I worked extensively with Alysa during the “first” dot-com boom, when finding talented people was neigh impossible and everyone with a pulse was flogging themselves as an executive recruiter. In this environment, Alysa was not only the real deal, but was an oasis of calm and competence. She was able to find, screen, cajole and convince qualified applicants during the “any warm body in a seat” days, and over the long haul (nobody every talks of this), these folks more often than not turned out to be true stars and fun people to work with. As a final note, this last piece is non-trivial – in any environment, a recruiter is your first, and often last, chance to communicate to an outside party (a candidate or other) who and what the company is about. I can’t think of anyone that imbues that message better than Alysa did for us.
